Student and Early Career Mentorship Program
The SCI Student and Early Career Mentorship Program began in 2022. Mentoring opportunities are available for pre-college, undergraduate, graduate, and early career composers who are members of SCI and those four levels are offered consecutively over the course of a year.
Three commentators provide written feedback about each submission and they also provide a ranking to select winners who also receive modest monetary awards and recognition on social media. When submission numbers are suitably large, an overall winner and regional winners are determined.
The primary purpose of the program is to provide each and every submitter with informed professional feedback appropriate to their age level. This is intended to be a significant and meaningful benefit of SCI membership to student and early career composers.
The Coordinator of the SCI Student and Early Career Mentorship Program is a member of SCI’s Executive Committee.
