This is me in New York City back in March, when I visited Julliard for my interviews.
My name is Reinaldo Moya. I just graduated with a degree in music composition from West Virginia University, where I studied composition with John Beall, and violin with Laura Kobayashi. I'm originally from Venezuela where I was a member of the Venezuelan Youth Orchestra, and traveled throughout North and South America as well as Europe. In the summer of 2005, I attended a composition course in Berlin taught by Samuel Adler, and the whole experience was life-changing. In the fall of 2006, I will be attending The Juilliard School pursuing a masters degree in music composition, and studying with Samuel Adler. If you like my music, or have any comments, feel free to email at moyacomposer@gmail.com. Thanks for stopping by!! 3 Danzas Venezolanas II. Vals
3 Danzas Venezolanas II. Vals.mp3 - complete
This is the second movement of my Venezuelan dances for violin and piano. I wrote these pieces trying to evoke the feelings and character of traditional Venezuelan music. This movement is titled Vals, the Spanish word for a waltz. The melancholy and tranquil mood almost make it reminiscent of a lullaby. Performed by: Reinaldo Moya, violin (I will get a better performance of this later), and Cher Siang Tay on Piano.Verbo; lyrics by Pablo Neruda

Ripling Ruminations for solo marimba.mp3 - complete

Memories of a Carousel; from Pocket Size Suite for clarinet, violin, cello and piano.mp3 - complete
This movement seems to be one of the favorites among audiences. It is the penultimate movement of my Pocket Size Suite. The piece is loosely written with a program in mind: an old man remembers when he went to the fair as a child, and the carousel must have a profound impact on him, because he remembers it in his later years. However, his memory is often distorted and he is forced to stop and begin again in the middle of his memory.
