Chan Ji Kim composes for dance, chamber ensembles, orchestra, multimedia performances and electroacoustic music. Her works have been performed in Asia, Europe, and North America. Most recently her music was heard at the International Music Days in Constanta, Romania in 2006, International Double Reed Society
(IDRS) conference in 2006, the Berlin New Music Concert, in 2005, the New Music Society (NMS) concert in Seoul, Korea in 2004, the International New Music Consortium (INMC) 2003 concert series in Bucharest, Romania, the Summer Music
Festival in Florence and Assisi, Italy in 2000, 2001 and 2002, and the World Music Days in Timisuara, Romania in 1999. Her numerous performances in United States include the Florida Electroacoustic Music Festival from 2002 to 2006, the 2006
Congress of the International Alliance of Women in Music (IAWM), the Society of Composers, Inc. (SCI) national conference in 2005, the Southeastern Composers Symposium in 2003 and the Sigma Alpha Iota Women Composer’s Showcase in 2002.
Dr. Kim has been commissioned by major international chamber ensemble groups including: In the Shadow by the Anton Webern Quartet in Berlin, Germany; San (The Mountain) for quintet by ProContemporonia in Bucharest, Romania; Aura by Les Basses (double bass ensemble) in Seoul, Korea; and Gate R by R20(String Orchestra) in Wroclaw, Poland. Other commissions and performances include a work for the New York University Dance Department for the New York Millennium Concert, and SAN (The Mountain) for orchestra, premiered by the Sinfonia Orchestra of
Bucharest at the George Enescu Hall in Romania in 2004.

Dr. Kim is a native of Korea, she earned her BA at E-Wha Women's University in Seoul, Korea, where she studied composition with Prof. Eun-Hea Park; her MA at New York University, where she studied composition and film scoring with Dr. Ron Mazurek and Dr. Dinu Ghezzo; her Ph.D at the University of Florida, where she studied composition with Dr. James Paul Sain, Dr. Paul Koonce, and Dr. Paul Richards. She taught Music Theory, Orchestration, and Music Technology at the University of Florida and has been a staff accompanist for the Dance Department of New York University and the University of Florida.
Her awards include the 1999 and 2000 recipient for best composer of INMC, the SCI/ASCAP 2002 student competition regional winner, the A. Didier Graeffe Scholarship (2003, 2004, and 2005), and first place in the juried art show and recipient of the Dean's award for artistic excellence at college of fine arts, at the University of Florida from 2003-2006. Her music has aired on KBS radio in Korea, and is featured on the SCI student chapter CD vol.4 (Memoria #2 for solo piano and Three moments for Clarinet Ensemble) and vol.5 (Some Beautiful Things in Life for
two pianos). Her music is available in print from TrevCo Music and on CD on Akashibu Gakufu Shuppan in Japan.
