Gerald Janecek is a retired professor of Russian at the University of Kentucky. He has been composing since the 1960s in a neo-baroque style using baroque forms with the addition of polytonality. He has composed numerous works for various chamber ensembles, several works for string orchestra with solo instruments, songs, and a chamber opera "Don Perlimplin," which was premiered in a concert performance at the University of Kentucky, Aug. 2009. He is currently completing on an opera based on Dostoevsky's CRIME AND PUNISHMENT.
