Eric Scott Alexander is Assistant Professor of Music Composition and Theory at Boise State University, beginning Fall 2017. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Music Composition from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He studied composition with Lukas Foss, Richard Cornell, Charles Fussell, Richard Toensing, and Louis Gonzalez. Eric is an active composer of instrumental and vocal works, and his music has been performed across the United States, Europe and Asia. In July 2016, Eric was a guest composer at the 12th Thailand International Composition Festival, where his Sonatina for flute and piano was performed. He also presented masterclasses at Mahidol and Chulalongkorn Universities in Bangkok. He has collaborated with numerous performing groups and solo musicians including the Playground Ensemble of Denver, Classical Revolution Northern Colorado, the Northern Colorado Artists Concert Series, the Harvest Trio of the University of Nebraska, Omaha, and Doriot Anthony Dwyer, former principal flutist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His music has been performed at conferences and new music festivals including the Florida State University Festival of New Music, the Open Space Festival of New Music, and the Aquila Summer Concert Series of Contemporary Music.
