Egemen Kesikli is a young Turkish composer and conductor whose music has been honored with numerous performances across the United States, Canada, Europe, and Turkey. His works have been performed at the Swiss Contemporary Music Festival, New York Composers Concordance, Belvedere Chamber Music Festival, Izmir International Music Festival, and many others, by ensembles including the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, Izmir State Symphony Orchestra, and Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, as well as by members of the New York City Opera Orchestra, Alabama Symphony, Memphis Symphony, Istanbul State Symphony, and Istanbul State Opera orchestras. He received honors from the American Composers Orchestra, ASCAP, Beethoven Club Memphis, Eczacibasi Foundation, and Minnesota Music Educators Association. Egemen received his Bachelorís degree in Music Theory & Composition from St. Olaf College with Departmental Distinction after two years of tutelage under the world-renowned pianists Guher & Suher Pekinel, and he received his Masterís in Composition at the University of Texas at Austin - Butler School of Music. He studied composition with Carter Pann, Dan Welcher, Daniel Kellogg, Donald Grantham, Ozkan Manav, Timothy Mahr, and Yevgeniy Sharlat, and film music with Justin Merritt and Bruce Pennycook. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado Boulder. He is a member of ASCAP and SCI.
