Cost of Registration: $40 advanced registration. This fee includes all concerts, receptions, panels, forums, Pool Party, Honorary Banquet, and a good excuse to visit Miami. If you wait to register at the conference, the fee increases to $45. Checks can be made payable to UMSCI.

Accommodation: We have reserved a block of rooms at the Dadeland Hampton Inn. The cost is $89/room for single or double occupancy. You must make a reservation by calling 305-269-0072. Reservations must be made at least 21 days before you arrive at the conference. Please mention that you are attending the SCI National Student Conference at the University of Miami. Our contact at the Hampton Inn is Fritz Fandino, Sales Coordinator.

Transportation: Transportation to/from the airport can be done by taxi/limo, Supershuttle (800-874-8885), or public transportation:

Take the tri-rail to the Metrorail Transfer Station, and take the metrorail south to the University Station (walking distance from UM), or the Dadeland North station for the Hampton Inn. As parking is limited and expensive, Miami traffic is very dense, and Miami drivers are very bad, bringing or renting a car is not recommended. The Hampton Inn is just two metrorail stops south of UM, and UMSCI will also help provide transportation needs during the course of the conference.

For more information on other places of accommodation, maps of UM and directions, go to the University of Miami website: www.miami.edu. Click on “prospective students,” then “prospective freshmen.” In the upper right hand corner is a “visit UM” link you can click on for pages of more info than you’d ever want.

Food: There are many nearby fast food and sit-down places to eat on campus and off campus, so your options for meals are quite substantial. Keep in mind that Friday dinner and Saturday breakfast is included in your registration fee (see schedule of events on the next page).
